The oldest shop of Samsø
You can still watch the original shelves and other furniture coming from Mr Rasmussen old shop and his accounting notebooks! Very well though, the shop decoration plunges us in times gone atmosphere of the 19th century, its cosy and warm touch avoiding the most impersonal écomusée style.
More than 30 typical products of Samsø
If the owner launched the shop six years ago with four typical products of the Danish islands, he is now very proud to offer over thirty specialties of Samsø producers. With this large variety, Lars competes imagination to offer tasty fast foods, accompanied by a local beer or a glass of organic wine or coffee prepared on site. The place is popular with tourists looking for traditional quality souvenirs – a Japanese group would literally empty the store in 30 minutes! – Or visitors looking for a typical place for a lunch break in a nice environment.
A cultural center for the island
Ideally located close to Ballen Harbour, the shop allows you to purchase souvenirs before taking the ferry; you can bring back a bottle of local schnapps, lobster liquor, smoked pheasant chest, lympe eggs or kiwi jam from Samsø… to extend the bucolic flavor of this so unique island of the Baltic Sea.
This is one of the cultural centers of the island where the island’s residents meet on weekends to listen to a conference or exhibition about ’permaculture’ or the Vikings, just to keep a window on what is happening outside the island!
