The M/S Tuno a traditional boat of Samsø is a robust wooden boat, built in 1965 in a shipyard Hou. It was designed at the time for freight and passenger transport in the area between Samsø, Tunø the neighboring island and the mainland Jutland. Today you can take place on board for sea safaris, discovering the seal colony that lives on Bosserne reefs of Samsø.

Sail aboard an old wooden boat listed Danish maritime heritage

After moults adventures, the ship has been completely renovated with a team of passionate of boats, and returned in 2005 as sail to its original waters. Its home port is now located at Ballen on the island of Samsø.

Approved by the Danish Maritime Authority, the ship can carry up to 38 passengers. It sails every summer between Samsø Islands and offers various services to discover the natural marine heritage of the region.

Seals safaris off Samsø

Each summer, three daily tours are available every Tuesday and Wednesday seals watching and sailing around Vejrø, Kyholm, Besser Reef and Lindholm Islands. The tours are guided by the captain. For nature lovers, it is possible to order, from Samsø School of the Nature, an onboard naturalist guide. Number of seabird species can be watched from the boat and it is common to see porpoises accompanying boat on a portion of the path.

Visit the small bucolic island of Tunø

Every Thursday and Friday, sea trips are organized between the port of Marup, Samsø, and the island of Tunø, former home port of the vessel. The small island of Tunø has 120 inhabitants who stand out for living without any car. It is a quiet and bucolic popular destination for boaters. On the island, you may find a grocery store, inn, restaurant, mini golf and various tourist shops. It is possible to rent bicycles to tour the island that can also be done on foot in about three hours.

The ship M/S Tuno is part of the Danish maritime heritage and represents a floating witness for the traditional sailing activity between the Danish islands.

Every summer, it is possible join the seafarer to discover the islands around Samsø and to observe the seal colony living in the reef Bosserne.

From mid June to mid August 3 daily outings are available every Tuesday and Wednesday to go watch the seals and navigate around Vejrø Islands Kyholm, Besser Reef and Lindholm. Departures are at 9:00, 12:00 and 3:00 pm from the port Langor, Samsø.

Boat departures to the island of Tuno are available on Thursday and Friday at 9:00 am, 10:30 and 12:00 am and returns are planned at 2:30 pm. 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm.
