Offshore wind farm located off the Morbihan to power a city the size of Lorient
This farm could count up to six floating wind turbines with a total capacity of 36MW, or “the equivalent of the energy consumption of the city of Lorient”
Located 15 km south of the island, off the Quiberon peninsula, the park could be operational by 2019 to 2020. The project will impact an area particularly rich in fishes and prawns
“The departmental committee of maritime fisheries and mariculture of Morbihan is consulted from the beginning on this project,” says Olivier Lorient Nézet the President of the Committees Britain Fisheries and Morbihan daily Ouest-France.
“The impact on commercial fishing is clear. We are losing at least 17 km2 of fishing area is huge. Over 100 boats work regularly there, they will suffer a drop in their sales. All trades are affected: trawl net, trap, longline … Not to mention the impossibility of working during the installation works of wind turbines and installation of the connecting cable.
